Trails consist of permanent well marked horse trails that twist and turn throughout primitive Hill Country terrain, occasionally crossing shallow streams and creeks. Additional water tanks will be placed on trail. “Horse shoes” or “hoof protection” are recommended.
Traditional Thanksgiving Day Feast for All: Yes! The annual Thanksgiving feast is planned again this year. Bring a prepared dish (if you can) and join us for dinner on Thursday evening, 24-Nov. 4pm to 6pm.

From Austin and points north: I-35 south toward New Braunfels, turn west onto State Hwy 46 toward Pipe Creek, turn west onto State Hwy 16 toward Bandera, turn south at the signal onto State Hwy 173. Cross the Medina River and continue for approximately ¼ mile, turn west onto FM 1077 and go to the Hill Country State Natural Area. Follow the signs to the AERC Group Lodge camping area.
From Houston and points east: I-10 West toward San Antonio, turn west onto US 90 toward Hondo, turn north onto State Hwy 173 toward Bandera, turn west onto FM 1077 and go to the Hill Country State Natural Area. Follow the signs to the AERC Group Lodge camping area.
From Uvalde and points west: US 90 east towards Hondo, turn north onto State Hwy 173 toward Bandera, turn west onto FM 1077 and go to the Hill Country State Natural Area. Follow the signs to the AERC Group Lodge camping area.
